Traditional Herbalism
An herbalist is a person who practices healing by the use of herbs and or is someone who collects or grows herbs. Herbalism is the study or use of the medicinal properties of plants. Herbal medicine (also Herbalism) is the study of the botany and use of medicinal plants.
The use of herbs as medicine comes in many applications and formulations such as: Essential Oils and Aromatherapy | Infusions and Decoctions | Tinctures | Hot and Cold Oil Extracts | Syrups | Powders and Pills | Juices and Pastes | Salves, Liniments, and Ointments | Fomentations | Poultices | Medicated Oils. |
Herbs are a natural and primary therapeutic remedy for human and animal ailments. Humans and animals have relied upon plants for healing for many thousands of years. Drugs are poor substitutes for plants. They may be helpful for short term or acute conditions, but their long-term action depletes the primary life-force because of its inorganic nature. We must replace our medicines of death with those of life. Plants have been the basis for medical treatments through much of human history, and such traditional medicine is still widely practiced today. As a traditional naturopathic practitioner and herbalist, I only use herbs as foods and not as drugs. Using nature's apothecary is what Holy Spirit Wellness promotes, should a remedy be required.
